What is Civil Engineering ?

Civil engineering, the oldest engineering discipline, deals with the built environment and can be dated to the first time someone placed a roof or laid a tree trunk across a river to make it easier to get across. Civil Engineering involves Design, Construction and Maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment encompassing roads, bridges, canals, tunnels, dams, sewage systems, buildings, ports and airports.

After completing B. Tech in Civil Engineering , a student gets employment opportunities in road projects, building work, consultancy firms, quality testing laboratories or housing societies. Civil engineers are employed by all the major construction projects carried out by the state or central government, railways, private construction companies, military, engineering services, real estate agencies and others.

• Engineering knowledge: apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
